Over 127 million primary DTT households worldwide

According to a report published by Digital TV Research, 675 million households around the world access digital television services.

Approximately 370 million households adopted digital television between 2007 and 2011. In this period, digital penetration increased from 23.5% of the world population to 48.5% of the population.

In addition, 75 million households adopted the DTT platform for their primary television services between 2007 and 2011. Altogether, free-to-air DTT is the primary television platform in 117 million household while a further 9.5 million households subscribe to a pay-DTT service.

Analogue terrestrial television remains the most popular platform, accounting for 31.8% of television households.
