Germany - Digital dividend auction raises €4.3 billion

The auction of the frequencies in the so-called 'digital dividend' have been completed in Germany on 20 May.

A total of €4.3 billion was raised in the auction which also included spectrum in the 1.8, 2.0, and 2.6 GHz bands.

The telecom operators T-Mobile, Vodafone, and Telefonica O2 have all received licenses for the use of frequencies between 790-862 MHz.

As a next step, they will need to roll-out mobile broadband services in rural areas.
