Russia - Regional broadcasters want to join DTT platform

Regional broadcasters have expressed an interest in joining the DTT platform. They would like capacity to be made available on the second or third multiplex.

Capacity on the first multiplex has already been reserved for national broadcasters.

The government, however, would prefer that regional broadcasters use other television delivery platforms such as IPTV or DVB-H rather than DVB-T.

The DTT platform uses the MPEG-4 AVC compression technology.
