Spain - Prisa to join TDT Premium platform
The media group Prisa has agreed to join the pay-DTT platform TDT Premium operated by the broadcast network operator Abertis.
Previously, Prisa had considered launching a separate pay-DTT platform with proprietary receivers. Instead, it will rely on the technical platform put in place by Abertis and make use of the existing base of pay-DTT receivers. Nagravision's conditional access system is used.
As a result, viewers will be able to choose between the different pay DTT programme services available on TDT Premium while using the same equipment. Broadcasters will each be responsible for the marketing and promotion of their pay-DTT services.
The launch of Prisa's pay-DTT service is expected in September. While the content has not yet been announced, it is expected that the pay services will be marketed under the Canal+ brand and cost approximately €15 per month.
Prisa has two broadcast service slots on the DTT platform following the sale of its free-to-air service, Cuatro, to Telecinco.
Already, viewers can subscribe to Mediapro's Gol TV and will soon be able to subscribe to AXN on the TDT Premium platform.
