Spain - TVE begins roll-out of TVE HD on DTT platform

The public service broadcaster RTVE has begun to provide HD services using frequencies previously used by its analogue service La 2.

In the region of Madrid, viewers can watch TVE HD on the frequency channel 55. Previously this frequency channel provided La 2 in analogue.

RTVE plans to roll-out its TVE HD service nationwide. Barcelona and Valencia will be the next two regions where TVE HD will launch.

As part of the final DTT plan in Spain, RTVE has been allocated two nationwide multiplexes. Alongside its HD service, RTVE also plans to offer its cultural service Cultural.es in standard-definition.
