Latvia - Lattelecom calls for 5 year extension to DTT license

The DTT platform is now available to 99% of the population. Viewers can currently access 5 free-to-air and 28 pay-DTT services.

However, once analogue switch-off is completed in June, the number of DTT services available will increase to 70.

According to the pay-DTT service operator Lattelecom, 160,000 viewers access the DTT platform.

Lattelecom has called on the government to extend its DTT license for a further 5 year until 2018. In exchange, Lattelecom is prepared to provide 70,000 DTT receivers to low-income households as well as a 25% discount in transmission costs to national broadcasters.
