Australia - Nine to provide NRL's State of Origin series in 3DTV on DTT platform

The commercial broadcaster Nine Network has announced that it will broadcast 3D programming on the DTT platform in Sydney.

It has been allocated additional spectrum capacity on a trial basis to allow for the 3D broadcast of the 3-matches of the National Rugby League's State Of Origin series.


The first match will take place on 26 May which will likely make Nine the first broadcaster in the world to provide live 3D services. Other broadcasters are planning to do so in time for the FIFA World Cup in June.

The project has been supported by the electronic goods retailer Harvey Norman, the National Rugby League and the federal government.
