France - CSA issues warning against non-conformant DTT receivers

According to the consumer association UFC-Que Choisir, between 300,000 and 500,000 DTT receivers could become obsolete when frequency changes are made to the DTT network.

On 19 March, the CSA issued a statement that it would delay a planned technical upgrade to the DTT platform until 2013 as a result of the risk of the high number of receivers that would be unable to handle the change. Initially, the upgrade had been set to take place on 5 May 2010. A provisional and temporary solution has been put in place.

The CSA has called on the government to ensure that manufacturers and retailers provide DTT receivers that are in conformity with the French DTT receiver specification.
