Spain - ASO in Barcelona, Madrid and Seville

Over 16.5 million viewers in Spain will completed analogue switch-off on 30 March.

On this date, the analogue services from the transmission towers covering the cities of Barcelona (Collserola), Madrid (Torrespaña), and Seville (Valencina de la Concepción) will be switched off.

Analogue switch-off will be completed country-wide on 2 April, when the analogue services at a further 6 transmission sites are switched off.

The analogue switch-off process began in July 2007 when a pilot was undertaken in the province of Soria. The first officially phase of analogue switch-off began in June 2009.

It is estimated that about 30 million DTT receivers have been sold in Spain since the re-launch of DTT services in November 2005.
